Solkyri release New EP ‘Cranebrook’
Australian post-rock quartet SOLKYRI have returned home from a successful Australian tour supporting Ireland’s iconic instrumental trio GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT.
With no signs of slowing down, SOLKYRI have released a new record ‘Cranebrook’ via Bird’s Robe and Dunk Records.
Speaking about the creation of ‘Cranebrook’, the band said:
“We made something different. It’s slow, at times it’s really slow, but it allows a moment of reflection, a chance to stand still and importantly, rest. This is 'Cranebrook', our brand new EP and our fifth studio release.
We feel that ‘Cranebrook’ is more nuanced than our previous work, as it embraces intimacy, patience and minimalism. It’s a shift in intensity, or as we like to call it, a “side-step”.
There should also be an emphasis on “we”. This record is truly ours. It’s literally built from the ground up, like… literally. Ryan hand-built the studio for which this record was written, recorded, produced, engineered and mastered in. We have navigated this EP at each and every turn.
This is a brave leap, but it is one that we are proud to take.”
Speaking about their recent tour the band said:
“[God Is An Astronaut] were a huge influence on us in the early beginnings of Solkyri. Working out what post-rock is and what is possible in the realm of instrumental rock music.”
